About Me.
Aged 52-not too bad looking! Wife to Tony, mother to Emma,Laura and Anthony-gran (but called marnie-way too cool to be called gran)to Aimee,Dylan and Calum.
Had a hysterectomy in 99 due to cervical cancer and then in 07 had my bladder and various other bits taken away from my right side-not much left of my right side as most of it has been cut away-thought I might walk lopsided but seem to look okay!
Always smiling.
Hi I have had an ostomy for 18months now and I have been searching various sites both here and abroad for new products. I was introduced to this site and from what I see it looks very interesting. I was at a meeting recently for stoma users and found out there that we are entitled to free underwear each year!. I have always been of the opinion that there is not enough information given out to people like us. Basically if you don't search the web and stumble upon things yourself then you will never find out.
If anyone knows of any groups within the Glasgow area I would be interested to know.

Marniex

Hi Margaret, was reading your comment your absolutely right only through talking to people and searching on the internet do you find out more about what your entitled to and more about our medical conditions.

I have had my colostomie only since July last year simply because I went in for a Hysterectomy and a week later was rushed into hospital operated on I had septicimia, septic shock, I believe the next 24 hours was critical if I pulled through or not, I was in intensive care for 9 weeks lots of other complications along the way. I had a Tracotomy, and through stress and trauma lost all my hair this is all because when I had my Hysterectomy and I was rushed back to hospital they cut me open and found a sutre ( stitch ) in my colon that had leaked into my bloodstream which of course caused all my problems.

I have never been ill before was fairly healthy for a 49 years old women, you just never no whats round the corner. Anyway sorry to of gone on a bit . Take care Julie

hiya, i agree completely! mine's called Bob, and i am so happy with him. i look at him and my scar, and im so proud. sounds crazy! but after the years of bother with no control, catheterising and bladder botox, bob's brought me so much relief. took a while to find the right pouch but now i have and what a difference! looking after him and cleaning him is good going as well. once u get over the initial fear! its nice 2 meet u, chat soon i hope xxx
